The Foothills Pool Company is a custom fiberglass pool builder serving Maiden — Newton, Conover and Lincolnton are all within our regular run. Every Maiden build is installed by one crew — shell, concrete pool deck and hardscape — and starts with a free on-site quote.
Maiden sits at about 833 feet in the south of Catawba County, with a slice of the town spilling across the line into Lincoln County. US 321 Business runs through the middle as Main Street; the four-lane US 321 expressway passes southwest of town, with Exit 33 on the Catawba side and Exit 28 down in Lincoln County. It is an old textile and hosiery town, and the housing stock shows it — established streets, mature canopy, and lots platted long before anyone was thinking about backyard pools.
The county line is not a trivia point here. Which side of it your lot falls on decides who inspects the work and issues the permit, and Catawba County and Lincoln County do not run identical processes or identical timelines. We establish that on the site visit, because a permit filed with the wrong county is a wasted fortnight nobody enjoys explaining. Exit 33 sits on the Catawba side of US 321 and Exit 28 on the Lincoln side, which is the quickest way to picture where the boundary falls.
Ground-wise Maiden is typical southern Catawba Piedmont at around 833 feet: red clay that sheds water slowly and wants a proper washed-stone backfill around the shell. The most trouble turns up on lots that were cut and filled for the house decades ago, because that old fill was never compacted to anything close to what a concrete pool deck needs under it.
In Maiden we most often build a mid-size fiberglass pool with a concrete pool deck on newer ground near Exit 33, and a compact or plunge-style pool on the older Main Street blocks where the yard will not take a full-size shell. The compact pools are not a consolation prize — on a lot that size they are simply the right design.
Older Maiden, along US 321 Business where it runs through as Main Street, is where access sets the terms. Side yards are narrow, utility lines run behind a lot of these properties, and the trees are big. None of that stops a pool, but it changes how the shell gets in and sometimes which model fits at all. The newer building out toward the US 321 expressway — the corridor that also brought the 500,000-square-foot Apple data center and its solar farm to town — has none of those constraints and far more room to stage a crane, which is why the same budget buys a bigger pool out there.
Whether you are on newer ground out near Exit 33, on an established street off Main Street near the old mill village, or across the boundary on the Lincoln County side, we will come and measure your Maiden project and give you an honest written quote at no cost. Talk to a Hickory-based pool installation company who will read the ground before putting a number on the job.
Part of Maiden lies in Lincoln County and part in Catawba County, so the first thing we settle is which one permits and inspects your build.
